Banquet Information
The guest speaker at our 2018 ACA Convention banquet will be Will Shortz. WILLz (his ACA nom) is currently the editor of the New York Times crosswords and also the puzzle master on the National Public Radio Weekend Sunday program. He graduated from Indiana University in 1974 with a degree in enigmatology, the study of puzzles, a curriculum he designed. He is the author of over 100 books on puzzles and has made numerous appearances on television and in several movies.
Will’s presentation is titled “Deciphering the New York Times Crossword.”  He will include some of his all-time favorite Times puzzles, what makes a good puzzle, how crosswords are constructed, a little on their history and what he does as a crossword editor.  He will also touch on codes and ciphers in the Times over the years, which will be significant and interesting, even if brief.  Don’t miss this opportunity to meet with this prolific puzzle author and hear his entertaining experiences.
